Planning and Conducting A Literature Search for A Systematic Review

Overview (Content and Syllabus etc): 
We will introduce methods to plan and perform systematic reviews. We will cover how to formulate an answerable research question and a search protocol, define inclusion and exclusion criteria, searching for the evidence across various databases and documenting the search strategy. In addition, we will discuss tools and methods for managing articles for the systematic reviews.

Masimba is the Medical Librarian at the University Of Zimbabwe College Of Health Sciences. He has experience in providing training support to Healthcare professionals and researchers in Health Information Literacy and Information Skills for Evidence Based Healthcare. He has experience working as an Informationist for various research units in Zimbabwe that seek to provide evidence based guidance to national health policy-makers. Masimba has promoted the use of point-of-care tools among healthcare professionals in Zimbabwe and has previously worked with the Collaboration for Evidence Based Healthcare in Africa in promoting use of research evidence in clinical practice.

Christine Wamunyima Kanyengo is the University Librarian at the University of Zambia. She is former Medical and Veterinarian Librarian at the same institution. She is also a former US National Library International Associate Fellow. She has wide ranging experience in mentoring, teaching and research. She has taught and supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University.
