This seminar will introduce participants to effective skills for searching any database including PubMed. The participants will be introduced to techniques for carrying out a search strategy and key skills needed to identify relevant literature of PubMed or any other database.
Dineo Ketshogileng Dineo Ketshogileng is currently coordinator of Medical Libraries at the University of Botswana. She holds a first degree in Environmental Science and History, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Masters in Library & Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Botswana. Dineo?s area of interest is health Information, information literacy, health informatics and mLearning. . She has experience in Health libraries, mLearning and Health Informatics having worked as an intern at the University of Pennsylvania Biomedical Library. She has international publications in the area of mLearning and medical informatics. She has presented at several professional conferences in Africa and internationally. She was instrumental in the establishment of medical libraries across her country to support Botswana?s first medical school. She has done capacity building workshops for health care workers and librarians in the areas of health information and health informatics. She taught an information retrieval techniques module for a Health Informatics course offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Botswana. She also teaches workshops for researchers and students in information retrieval techniques and data management skills for resources like MEDLINE, PubMed and referencing softwares like Mendeley, endnote and Zotero.
Dr. Grace Ajuwon Dr. Grace Ajuwon is the reference and information services librarian at E. Latunde Odeku Medical Library, College of Medicine, and University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She obtained the bachelor?s degree in Anthropology, Masters and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She conducts regular training sessions for students, teaching, non-teaching staff and healthcare workers on how to access, retrieve and use electronic information resources including databases (MEDLINE/PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science, ProQuest, and Jaypee digital among others) and other online resources. In addition, she organizes training for staff and students on use of Turnitin, a plagiarism prevention solution and bibliographic management tools including EndNote, Zotero and Mendeley. She is a researcher who has several scholarly publications in national and international peer review journals. She has also presented papers at several international conferences. Grace is an associate lecturer at the Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies, University of Ibadan She is a recipient of several grant awards including among others are Population Media Centre grant award, 2016; Elsevier Foundation Innovative Libraries Grant Ward, 2014; University of Ibadan Senate Research Grant, 2010; International Federation of Library Association (IFLA) /Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE) Grant, 2010; the Medical Library Association (MLA) / Librarians Without Border (LWB) Grant Award, 2009 and Ingenta Research Award, 2008. Grace has also won fellowships awards namely Cunningham Memorial International Fellowship of the Medical Library Association (MLA), 2004; National Library of Medicine (NLM) Associate Fellowship (2007/2008) and Commonwealth Professional Fellowship, 2013. Grace is a member of many professional associations including Nigerian Library Association (NLA); Association for Health Information and Libraries in Africa (AHILA), treasurer 2006-2010 and Vice President, 2016 to date; Medical Library Association (MLA); Association of Visual Science Librarians (AVSL); Medical Library Association of Nigeria (MLA-NG) and Network of African Medical Librarians (NAML). She is a member of Research4Life Advisory Board
